The hygiene assistant is the position that assists the hygienist in providing treatment for exams, cleanings and other patient visits where the Hygienist is the provider. The hygiene assistant also often sterilizes rooms, takes X-rays, and otherwise assists with diagnostic procedures as allowed by law.
Because most new patients enter through hygiene, assistants for hygiene appointments can help make it easier to grow a practice, as well as give flexibility to the practice schedule in cases of emergencies, cancellations and other unforeseen events.
